A Yoga Retreat in India: What to Expect

India is where yoga began, and where it is still lived as part of ordinary life. Practising there is different. The tradition is not something you have to imagine; it is around you.
Our retreat in India brings together yoga and its sister science, Ayurveda, on the coast of North Goa.
Yoga and Ayurveda
Ayurveda means "the knowledge of life". It is the traditional Indian system of health, and it works through diet, daily routine and the body's own rhythms. Where yoga turns attention inward through practice, Ayurveda looks at how we eat, sleep and live day to day. The two grew up side by side and share much of the same thinking.
What a day looks like
Days begin with meditation and yoga. There are two yoga classes each day, open to every level, across a range of styles. Afternoons bring traditional Ayurvedic massage and time by the sea. In the evenings there are workshops and cultural activities, a chance to meet some of the heritage and traditions of Goa.
Meals are vegan and vegetarian: breakfast, lunch and dinner, with fruit and herbal tea through the day.
