Corporate Yoga

Classical yoga, breathing and meditation for the working day: from a weekly class to a team day retreat.

A pause the whole team can share

Avana Yoga is a traditional yoga school. We teach yoga as it has been taught in India for generations: movement, breath and stillness, practised together.

In a workplace, that becomes something simple and useful. Time away from the screen, a body that has moved, and a mind that has had a few quiet minutes. Nobody needs experience or a particular level of fitness, and every session offers options for each person.

We have taught teams at IT companies and educational institutes. We come to your workplace, arrange a suitable venue, or teach online, anywhere in the UK, and special programmes can be arranged abroad.

Why it matters at work

In Great Britain in 2024/25, according to the Health and Safety Executive:

  • 964,000

workers suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety

  • 511,000

workers suffering from a work-related musculoskeletal disorder

  • 40.1 million

working days lost to work-related illness and injury

Yoga is not a treatment for any of these. But time to move, to breathe and to rest is something every workplace can offer, and many people find it makes a real difference to how the working day feels.

02

Why a teacher-training school

  1. 01

    We train yoga teachers

Avana Yoga is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Teaching well is what we teach, so the standard in your meeting room is the one we hold our trainees to.

  2. 02

    A team, not one person

Sessions are led by Yogi Madhav and teachers from our wider team, chosen for each programme, so we can teach several sites or a long series without gaps.

  3. 03

    Depth made practical

Our teaching comes from the classical tradition of India. In a workplace we keep it simple: things people can use at their desk, on a busy day, or before sleep.

  4. 04

    Fully insured

We hold £5 million liability insurance for teaching yoga, in the UK and worldwide.

03

Ways to practise together

  1. 01

    Workplace yoga

A guided class of movement, breathing and relaxation, gentle or more active to suit the group, with options for beginners throughout.

  2. 02

    Chair yoga and movement breaks

For offices, meeting rooms and teams with little space. Colleagues move, stretch and pause without getting down onto a mat.

  3. 03

    Breathing and meditation

A quiet moment in a busy day. Sessions can focus on breathing (pranayama), meditation, deep relaxation, or a combination.

  4. 04

    Wellbeing workshops

More time with one theme that matters to your team, combining practice with ideas people can return to at their desks and at home.

  5. 05

    Team day retreats

A day built around your team. It might include yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra (a guided practice of deep rest, done lying down), a workshop and time outdoors. We plan the venue, lunch and timings with you.

04

Programmes

Some teams want a regular class to look forward to; others are planning a single day. Every programme is shaped around your people and quoted for you.

  • Lunchtime series

    6 or 8 weeks

A weekly session at the same time each week, so the practice builds and people can plan around it.

  • Wellbeing day

    Half or full day

At your workplace or a venue we arrange: a mix of practice, a workshop and time to rest.

  • Team or leadership retreat

    One day or longer

Away from the office, in the UK or abroad, for a team that wants to slow down together.

  • Talk and practice

    One-off

A single session for a date in your calendar: Stress Awareness Month (April), Mental Health Awareness Week (May), the International Day of Yoga (21st June) or World Mental Health Day (10th October).

06

What a session looks like

A typical 45-minute workplace session:

  1. 5 minArrive and settle, with a few words on what we will do.
  2. 15 minGentle movement, seated or standing, with options for everyone.
  3. 10 minBreathing practice.
  4. 10 minGuided relaxation or meditation.
  5. 5 minOne simple practice to take back to the desk.

No one is asked to perform a pose or share anything personal. Taking part fully, gently or simply resting are all welcome.

07

Taught by experienced teachers

Sessions are led by Yogi Madhav, who has taught yoga and meditation internationally since 2012, and by teachers from our wider team, chosen to suit each programme. The teaching is traditional in its roots, and clear and approachable in the room.
