Becoming a certified yoga instructor starts with a 200-hour teacher training at a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. Avana Yoga is one, and our trainings are taught in person in the UK and India.
How certification works
- Complete a 200-hour training at a registered school. Ours runs over ten weekends in Rhyl, Wales.
- Register with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT 200).
- Teach, and keep practising. When you are ready, a 300-hour training deepens your study.
- A 200-hour and a 300-hour training together count towards the training requirement for RYT 500, subject to Yoga Alliance’s teaching-hour requirements.
What the training covers
Asana and sequencing, pranayama, meditation and kriyas, anatomy and the subtle body, the philosophy of the classical texts, and the practice of teaching itself: observation, adjustment and holding space for a group.
The 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training runs over ten weekends in Rhyl, Wales, starting on 23rd January 2027, on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 6pm, with two live philosophy sessions a week (recorded if you miss one). The course fee is £1899 until 30th November 2026, then £2099. Payment plans are available on request.
