India is where yoga began, and where it is still part of ordinary life. Our retreat in India brings together yoga and its sister science, Ayurveda, on the coast of North Goa.
Ayurveda, “the knowledge of life”, is the traditional Indian system of health. It works through diet, daily routine and the body’s own rhythms. Over eight days you meet it the way it is meant to be met: through food, routine and traditional Ayurvedic massage, alongside a steady daily yoga practice.
A day on the retreat
Each day begins with meditation and pranayama, then a yoga class before breakfast. The middle of the day is for your Ayurvedic massage, the pool or Ashwem Beach, a ten-minute walk away. A second yoga session follows in the late afternoon, and evenings close with Yoga Nidra or a gentle relaxation. Each guest also has a private consultation with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor, and there are talks on Ayurveda and yoga philosophy through the week.
